They are two female entrepreneurs with a deep connection and a friendship of more than 14 years. Both shared the experience of being participants in the program Summer Work and Travel, which aroused in them a strong desire to contribute to the development of their community in Barahona, and all the region South of the Dominican Republic.
Wilna, in addition to his training in Marketing, it stands out as a teacher of English Immersion to the Competitiveness through the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCYT). On the other hand, Iomaira is the owner of the IB Language Institute and Manager of the Cooperative of Savings, Credit, and Multi-Service Investment Barahona (IBACOOP), in addition to working as an English teacher in LICATEBA under the Ministry of Education (MINERD). The convergence of their skills, experiences, and the desire to provide growth opportunities to the young people in your region, led to the founding Culture Exchange (CULTUREX). This project was born from the need to offer alternatives of professional and personal development in the South of the Dominican Republic.
One of the main motivations was to remove the geographical barrier that forced the students, trainees and graduates to address the capital of the country for access to similar experiences, which increased considerably the costs and limiting the opportunities for learning and growth.
Through Culture Exchange, Wilna and Iomaira seek to promote cultural exchange, language learning and the development of professional skills in their community, thus fostering economic and social growth of Barahona and the entire Southern Region. Their commitment and dedication reflect their deep love for their land and their firm belief in the potential of its people to achieve big goals and to contribute to the progress of their country, taking their company CULTUREX to be the Bridge to a World Full of Opportunities
